Use This Simple Trick for a Better IELTS Listening Score

On the IELTS Listening exam, you have time to look at the questions before the recording starts.

Before each part, the recording will say, “You will have 30 sections to read the questions.

How can you use these 30 seconds to get a higher score?

Use these 30 seconds to underline important words!

How do you know what to underline? Underline words that help you understand what the questions are about. This  way you will be more focused when you listen. When you are focused, you are prepared to answer the questions.

In a multiple choice question, underline important words in the question part only, not in the answers.

Here is an example of questions for a Listening Section 1.

Print out these questions and and try this exercise.

1) Time yourself for 30 seconds.
