Anambra pastor commits suicide after lover jilted him

The tragic incident of a pastor from Nnewi, Anambra State, identified as Pastor Prosper Igboke, committing suicide by jumping from a two-storey building after being jilted by his lover has left the community in shock. The 30-year-old man, hailing from Leru community in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, had reportedly invested heavily in his lover’s education, only to have his marriage proposal turned down. Consequently, he took his own life. The relative of the deceased, highlighting the severity of the situation, mentioned that according to village tradition, Igboke was buried in a forest for committing “sacrilege.”

Despite the gravity of the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that it was not reported at the police command. This unfortunate event has deeply affected the community, leading to an unsettling burial for the pastor, who was laid to rest in a forest, as per their customs.
