Tragic incident as students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo mourn the alleged killing of their peer by Amotekun officers at the state govt house (photos/video)
A student of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo in Ondo State, named Ademola Alayori, has tragically passed away after reportedly being fatally shot by members of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun.
Ademola, in a voice note recorded before his demise, recounted that the incident occurred on the night of July 4. He mentioned that he was at home, having just finished a meal and about to drink water when he observed his brother, who works as an apprentice at a barbing salon, returning home. He narrated that a group of men forcefully entered their residence, ignoring his inquiries and instructing everyone there to leave. During this process, Ademola claimed he was shot.
He further described being dragged to the Amotekun office, where he was detained with a dog that licked the blood from his wounds. He added that he was later transferred to the Federal Medical Center in Owo, where an operation was performed due to the deterioration of his condition. Tragically, he passed away in the hospital.

In response to his tragic death, students staged a protest by taking his body to the state government house, demanding justice for Ademola and calling for the prosecution of the Amotekun officers allegedly involved in the shooting.
As of now, neither the state police command nor the state government has issued a statement regarding this distressing incident.
