Kidnapped woman saved after discreetly sending a call for help while placing a Grubhub delivery order

Rescued from a hostage situation in New York, a woman made a desperate plea for help by including a note in her Grubhub delivery order to The Chipper Truck in the Bronx.

“Please call the police, he’s going to call me when you deliver. Come with the cones, please don’t make it obvious,” the woman wrote in the “Additional Instructions” section of her order.

The New York City Police Department responded to the scene around 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 19.

Kemoy Royal, the suspect, was taken into custody on charges of rape, strangulation, criminal sex act, unlawful imprisonment, menacing, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and sexual abuse.

According to police, the victim is 24 years old.

Royal is also accused of attempting to rape a 26-year-old on June 15 and faces charges of attempted rape, sexual abuse, and assault in connection with that case.

Following the incident, Alicia Bermejo, 20, whose parents own The Chipper Truck, shared that two women, one in her 40s and one in her 20s, received the note and called Bermejo’s father for assistance because the message was somewhat “incoherent.”

He advised them to cancel the order and notify the police instead. “Call 911, whether it’s fake or not, better to just get them out there,” he instructed.

Alicia Bermejo affirmed, “That was the best thing for her. The police ended up showing up instead of a delivery driver.”
