Tragic auto crash claims the lives of eight family members in Imo
A devastating auto crash at the Amanwozuzu junction in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state has resulted in the tragic loss of a family of eight who were on their way home to celebrate the New Year.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 pm on Friday, causing a great deal of distress in the area.
Upon visiting the accident scene, our correspondent discovered that the father, who was driving the Sienna vehicle and had his wife and children as passengers, collided with a stationary truck carrying rods.
Eyewitnesses and police officers involved in the rescue mission revealed that the rods pierced the bodies of the victims, leading to immediate fatalities. The authorities had to break the vehicle to retrieve the lifeless bodies of the family members.

At the time of reporting, the bodies had been taken to a morgue by officers from the Ikeduru Local Government Area Division.
Lucky Ahiole, a Chief Superintendent of Police and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, commented, “It is terrible. Eight died, and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies. The rod pierced their eyes and bodies, and even the children died.”

However, an eyewitness suggested that the stationary truck, which was transporting rods, was obstructing the road, indicating that the tragedy could have been prevented if the truck had not been parked there.
