Paul Pogba Reportedly Tests Positive for Testosterone, Could Face Four-Year Ban from Football
Following the analysis of his B sample, it has been reported that Paul Pogba has tested positive for testosterone once again, after initially failing a drugs test last month.
The positive result emerged after Juventus’ first game of the season against Udinese on August 20, a match in which Pogba did not participate.
As a result, the Juventus midfielder was provisionally suspended by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal and given three days to request his B sample, which has now yielded the same result, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
In such cases, the maximum suspension is four years – initially a two-year ban, which can be extended if it is proven that the substance was taken intentionally.

Last month, Mail Sport reported that Pogba had requested a counter-analysis following his positive test, signaling a potential prosecution process in the event of a second failed test, which could lead to dismissal, plea bargaining, or a trial before a tribunal.
Speaking on Pogba’s behalf, his representative Rafael Pimenta stated, ‘We are awaiting the counter analysis and until then we cannot comment. The certainty is that Paul Pogba never intended to violate the rules.’

There is uncertainty surrounding Pogba’s future at Juventus, with the club reportedly willing to suspend his wages if proceedings against him are initiated following the positive test. If Pogba receives a ban, it could result in the termination of his contract with the Serie A giants.
A previous statement from Juventus confirmed the initial positive test and stated, ‘Juventus Football Club announces that today, September 11, 2023, the footballer Paul Labile Pogba received a precautionary suspension order from the National Anti-Doping Tribunal following the results of tests carried out on August 20, 2023. The club reserves the right to consider the next procedural steps.’
