Barcelona's Gavi Secures Golden Boy Award, Triumphs Over Jude Bellingham

Young talent Gavi from Barcelona has clinched the distinguished Golden Boy award.

The 18-year-old Spanish midfielder’s exceptional performance for Barcelona has been acknowledged as he emerges as the 20th recipient of the honor for the finest under-21 European footballers.

He surpassed England’s Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jamal Musiala to seize the award, which will be formally presented in Turin on November 7.

Gavi now joins the ranks of previous Barcelona winners Lionel Messi (2005) and Pedri from last year, alongside other notable names such as Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Joao Felix, Wayne Rooney, and Cesc Fabregas.

The midfielder, who hails from Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, was elevated from Barcelona’s ‘B’ team to the senior squad at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.

Organized by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, the Golden Boy awards involve an international panel of journalists and experts determining the victor. Gavi prevailed over strong contenders Bellingham, Camavinga, and Musiala to secure the award.
