Funmi Falana Upholds Confidence in Justice for Mohbad
Funmi Falana, the lawyer representing the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, is resolute in her belief that justice will prevail in the case investigating the untimely death of the artist.
Falana, a human rights activist and founder of Women Empowerment and Legal Aids, expresses her assurance that the coroner’s inquest will diligently probe the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
During an interview with Saturday Beats, she stated, “Today’s session was simply a preliminary meeting to discuss the process and procedure. It is a coroner’s inquest, not a formal court hearing.”
“Our expectation is that justice will be served. We will uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s death. This is why we are here, and we have full confidence that justice will be served,” she added.

However, journalists were prohibited from attending the proceedings, reportedly on the directive of Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias. The witnesses for the case are scheduled to appear on October 13, 2023.
Falana also mentioned that the identities of the witnesses will remain undisclosed until their appearance in court.

In addition, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, revealed that Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, a person of interest in the investigation of Mohbad’s death, has been apprehended.
On X, Hundeyin wrote, “Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry, is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with ongoing investigation.”
Several videos circulating online depict Larry harassing and assaulting Mohbad on different occasions.
Hundeyin added that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, will provide an update on the case in due course.
In an earlier interview with NewsNow Nigeria, an anonymous police source revealed that the controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday, September 27, 2023.
Meanwhile, Naira Marley, Mohbad’s former record label boss, expressed his willingness to return to Nigeria and cooperate with the police’s investigation under the condition of guaranteed safety.
During an Instagram live session with Reno Omokri, the Marlian Music boss stated, “I am a hundred percent ready to come for investigation if they can assure my safety. There are many angry mobs that have been influenced by the media.”
