Supreme Court Upholds Oborevwori’s Election, Sparking Celebration in Delta
Delta State witnessed exuberant celebrations among members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s election.
The appeal filed by All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate and former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, was dismissed by the apex court.
In a decisive verdict, the Supreme Court ruled that the APC candidate had failed to substantiate his claims against the governor.
Members of the PDP in various parts of the state, including Warri South, Udu, and Warri South-West, reveled in festive spirits on Friday morning.

Governor Oborevwori and PDP members were seen congregating at the Government House Chapel, expressing their gratitude to God through dance as they celebrated the judgment upholding his election.
Justice Nyang Okoro, delivering the judgment, emphasized that the APC and its candidate had not presented compelling evidence to support their allegation that the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election in Delta State had violated the provisions of the Electoral Act.

All issues were decisively settled against the appellants by the court.
The Supreme Court equally rejected appeals against Oborevwori’s election brought forth by Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, former Minister of Education (State) and candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, as well as Mr. Ken Pela of the Labour Party, LP.
Dr. Ifeanyi Mike Osuoza, the PDP Publicity Secretary in Delta State, conveyed the governor’s triumph at the Supreme Court in a message addressed to the correspondent.
