Arsenal have officially announced the acquisition of Poland defender Jakub Kiwior from Serie A outfit Spezia for a fee of £21 million.

The 22-year-old visited London over the weekend and was in attendance at Emirates Stadium for Arsenal’s 3-2 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, January 22.

Kiwior has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until 2027, with the option for a further 12 months.

Arsenal’s Sporting Director Edu expressed his delight, stating, “We’re thrilled to have finalized the signing of Jakub Kiwior. He’s a young talent whom we’ve been observing for a while. We are all eager to collaborate with Jakub and witness his ongoing progress with us. We extend a warm welcome to Jakub at Arsenal.”

Manager Mikel Arteta also expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It’s fantastic that Jakub is joining us. He’s a young, versatile defender who has demonstrated immense potential and qualities with Spezia in Serie A, as well as at international level with Poland.”

Jakub is Arsenal’s second signing in January, following the arrival of Leandro Trossard from Brighton, which will cost them around £17.5m up-front, with a further £3.5m in potential add-ons.

Kiwior’s addition will provide depth to the Premier League leaders, who have been seeking another left-footed centre back.
