Stoke City Rewards Mikel Obi with a New Contract
Former Super Eagles Captain, John Mikel Obi, has extended his contract with Championship side Stoke City. The club has announced that they have reached an agreement with the former Chelsea midfielder to stay with them for another twelve months.
A statement on the club website reads, “Contract extensions have been activated to retain the services of defender James Chester and midfielder John Obi Mikel.”
Having signed for the Potters last summer after leaving Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor, the 34-year-old is now expected to remain at the Bet 365 stadium until the summer of 2022. Mikel played 41 times for the Potters in the 2020/21 season and was one of the most important players for the campaign.
