Ex-girlfriend of boxer Andy Ruiz accuses him of raping and assaulting her

The ex-girlfriend of former heavyweight boxing champion Andy Ruiz Jr., Julia Lemus, has filed a lawsuit against him alleging abusive behavior and multiple instances of rape. She has obtained a temporary restraining order against Ruiz, claiming that he subjected her to sexual, physical, and psychological abuse, causing her to feel constantly fearful.

Lemus also stated that Ruiz abused their two children, had issues with alcohol and drugs, and made her fear for their safety. One particular incident she described took place in 2019 after Ruiz won the heavyweight title, where he physically assaulted her, leaving bruises on her arms and legs.

In addition to the alleged abuse, Lemus accused Ruiz of pointing an AK-47 at her and expressed discomfort with his collection of firearms. The restraining order mandates that Ruiz stay away from Lemus, forbids him from owning firearms, and grants Lemus sole legal and physical custody of their children.

Ruiz has denied all allegations, claiming that Lemus stabbed him with a knife in 2020 and entered his hotel room with a loaded gun. He also accused her of stealing jewelry from him. A court hearing is scheduled for April 24.
