Graeme Souness Questions Arsenal’s Decision to Sign Havertz from Chelsea

The decision of Arsenal to sign 24-year-old Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the summer transfer window has been questioned by Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness.

During the summer, Havertz made a move to Arsenal for a significant fee of £65 million, but he has struggled to make an impact.

Across all competitions for the Gunners, he has failed to contribute any goals in his seven appearances.

In his column for Daily Mail, Souness wrote, “Not all of Arsenal’s spending makes sense to me. They have spent £65 million on Kai Havertz.

“Are you really spending that kind of money on a player who has shown little in his time at Chelsea over the past three seasons?

“They have splashed out, hoping that Mikel Arteta can get more out of him than Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, or Graham Potter ever did. Good luck with that one, Mikel.”

He further added, “For a striker, you need to look at how many games they have played and how many goals they have scored. Havertz has scored 19 Premier League goals in three seasons at Chelsea. Make your own conclusions.”
