‘Miyetti Allah lacks power to establish vigilante militia’ – Afenifere fumes
Afenifere has strongly opposed the establishment of a security outfit by Miyetti Allah Hore in Nasarawa State, stating that the Fulani social-cultural organization lacks the authority to set up such a militia.
During its first general meeting in Akure, Ondo State, Afenifere issued a communiqué, expressing its disapproval of the Nomad Vigilante Group, a security outfit representing the Fulani community in Nasarawa State, which was launched on January 17.
There were reports that Bello Bodejo, the president of Miyetti Allah, was allegedly arrested by security operatives following the formation of the security outfit. The Department of State Services (DSS) clarified that Bello Bodejo was not arrested by their operatives but was picked up by armed security operatives at Miyetti Allah’s Head Office.
Afenifere emphasized that a non-state actor like Miyetti Allah should not have the authority to establish a security outfit, and commended the DSS for taking action to address the issue. The organization highlighted the need for oversight and control on such matters.
